Canon EOS 7D vs. 5D (Autofocus)
Autofocus Speed: The 5D is amazing. So much so, I was beginning to question the 7D capacity to match it. The 5D’s older 9 point AF point system was beating the 7D frame per frame.
The lenses used in the comparison
EF 100-400mm 4.5 - 5.6 L IS
EF 70-200mm 2.8 L Non IS
EF 100mm L IS Macro
Even though the 7D’s 8 fps is among the fastest shutters around, it doesn’t...

HTML 5 Will Not Kill Flash
If you’ve never used Flash the program as a creative tool, you might buy into the nonsense that HTML 5 will kill Flash as a development platform. You might be inclined to believe that Flash as a program is over and will cease to exist. From all the panic you would think that all nations are dumping computers/laptops/netbooks and are all going mobile next week.
In a nutshell the hype...

Spawning Respawn Entertainment
There is no doubt that Vince Zampella and Jason West are incredible talent. At Infinity Ward they created the best WWII franchise in COD and successfully updated it to Modern warfare. Re-engineering the game play and direction in a franchise was no small feat.
Now that they have formed Respawn Entertainment (RE) there is a big buzz in the gaming community. However not unlike Bungie, Infinity...

What Steve Jobs has done Right...
A Rigid Format.
It’s hard to argue that such a defined format across four hardware devices isn’t smart. It’s close to genius - close to maniacal.
In a tech world run amok with ideas of non propriety, open source, open formats, Apple is locked down. Locked down hard.
From a developers/designers stand point, there aren’t a multitude of screens/UI/Hardware/OS variants to...

Bad Company 2 (PC) Multiplayer
There is no reason for this game to be running as bad as it does on a very good gaming PC.
i7 950-4Ghz | Dual SLi-285 | 12GB Ram | Windows7 64Bit Ult| can barely get consistent appreciable frames at 1440.
People raving how well it runs @ 1080 ??? Since when did 1080 become a PC benchmark resolution. Sloppy coding by Dice - fix it

AdSense - Go it alone or face the SPAM
One of the biggest hurdles of taking on AdSense is the Spam that comes with it. There are so many get-rich-quick people and programs that associate with AdSense it takes away from the legitimacy of the program.
Be sure there are people making big bucks with AdSense, but I doubt a majority of them went the route of buying hordes of books and paid seminars when a vast bit of info is on...

Reading and more reading - AdSense
There’s just allot reading to do but for the most part it makes sense. Google offers up allot of info on how to work with and get the most out of Adsense. I can say one thing for sure is that there are allot of links. Learning those links and how to and when to get back to them is key.
Just found out last night (early this morning) how to add AdSense to Tumblr. So I hope to incorporate that...

AdSense - Anyone doing well with it?
AdSense - Anyone doing well with it? or have practical experience with it?
I’ve have an active AdSense account and have YouTube, sites, and blogs setup with it. I’ve been on the sidelines and have not committed full time to original video content. I know there are some vehicles for generating decent sums of earnings.
A month ago a review video I made met Google’s criteria for...

Lightwave Core Beta....err Alpha
1st let me get this out of the way - There is no enforced NDA on Core discussion. I don’t know the reason why there was no NDA enforced, but I imagine things were supposed to be going more swimmingly than they have for the past year.
With that said, I’m not going to delve so much into Core itself as there is not much of note to talk about. It’s in an Alpha state. You can see...

The Decline of PC Gaming (as we know it) Part II
When it came to PC hardware, early and through the mid 90’s we saw a variety of specialized audio cards aimed at the PC Gaming market. Saying choice was chaotic was a bit of an understatement. Not all games supported the two competing standards. Divisions like this would cross over to the early 3D cards. 3DFX (daughter cards) started the wave that eventually grew into a crowded market....

Vista 64 Ultimate vs. Windows 7 64 Ultimate
My preliminary results: Right now I would have to say that the difference between the two is more cosmetic with optimization added. I know there are functions and added features in Win 7, but nothing that couldn’t seemingly be added to Vista.
Optimized
Yes, Windows 7 runs very good on lesser hardware than Vista does, but for now, I would be less to qualify that as new OS vs a significant...
Conspiracy Theorists vs. Skeptics
This will be short - I’ll touch on it another time but I can barely stomach http://www.abovetopsecret.com anymore.
There used to be an occasional post that sparked worthwhile debate. It then lowered itself to some level of unusual entertainment, as in “Can people really get behind this crazy claim?” Unfortunately it increasingly looks and feels like a bad National Enquirer or...

Why the Droid(s) may never be the next iPhones
If you have ever produced work for the mobile industry, you know how frustrating it is to support the myriad of screen sizes and formats out there. Whether it’s applications, games or other media, the mobile market is a mess of non standards.
The reason why Apple may never relinquish their position as a smart phone leader is the fact that only they make and control the iPhone and the OS...

Death of the Generalist
Simply Put: The days of presenting your many do-all talents to qualified clients has passed. Where once your multi-facet talent presented greater opportunity, it has; unbeknown to you, undermined your bottom line. Your financial value.
Expanded On: “If you can do all that, it must be easy and therefore cheap, right?”
While no one prospective client has ever said that verbatim, when...

Chasing the PC Hardware performance envolope
I have a slew of PC’s in my office that do double duty. On one hand they aid in the chores of work and the other is entertainment. There was a time when both work and play were reasons to have the best built PC rigs.
Interesting enough for me the terms of work and play were very similar. Polygons, textures, and rendering of all types. The best CPU/GPU’s would cut the work in half and...

Why I didn't buy the i7 920 and went with the i7...
If you’ve overclocked for any length of time (years), you learn that certain CPU’s are prime candidates for massive overclocking (OC). There is the low end and the high end chip and the costs are saved or spent are considerable.
I’ve read many forum posts on the 920’s excellent capacity to reach 4GHz and beyond. I’ll note that over the past couple of years I’ve...

Using Steam - 1st Simple Tip - Transfer files
At some point you may for some reason or another want/need to move your gigabytes of Steam games from one PC to lets say, maybe a New faster PC. The last thing you should consider is to re-download all those games again.
Fortunately for you, your Steam folders are self contained. Meaning, you can literally copy and paste from one PC to another. The program and games will all transfer over.
Now...
