Photos from E3 2011 - Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles California “Booth Babes”Canon EOS 7D vs. 5D (Autofocus)
Autofocus Speed: The 5D is amazing. So much so, I was beginning to question the 7D capacity to match it. The 5D’s older 9 point AF point system was beating the 7D frame per frame.
The lenses used in the comparison
- EF 100-400mm 4.5 - 5.6 L IS
- EF 70-200mm 2.8 L Non IS
- EF 100mm L IS Macro
Even though the 7D’s 8 fps is among the fastest shutters around, it doesn’t matter much if the various 19 AF point configurations can’t lock, or maintain lock on a moving target. The 5D by comparison is the 9 point as mentioned earlier with option to single point.
The 7D’s saving grace
Going to the Menu and into Custom Settings/AI Servo tracking sensitivity I adjusted it to the Max setting. This allows the AF point(s) to quickly adjust to targets instead of pausing which is the default setting.

HTML 5 Will Not Kill Flash
If you’ve never used Flash the program as a creative tool, you might buy into the nonsense that HTML 5 will kill Flash as a development platform. You might be inclined to believe that Flash as a program is over and will cease to exist. From all the panic you would think that all nations are dumping computers/laptops/netbooks and are all going mobile next week.
In a nutshell the hype revolves around Flash Video
Well Flash is not just about web Video. It’s a very versatile animation program that can output to a variety of formats and file standards. It’s been a very comprehensive animation tool years before it was adopted for streaming video. It’s uses are many and it’s versatility has lent it to being used in mainstream cartoon animation.
As for HTML 5, expect Flash to work very well with it just as it does with current HTML. Anyone or any company wanting to create dynamic design/animations and interactive experiences for their users will continue to produce web sites, content and games with Flash.
but with all the bruhaha Apple has stirred up you’d think it was.
